Plugin Features

Datebases

The WordPress Author plugin lets you manage your books via the WordPress editor. All the content you enter gets put into a book database. We then harness the power of your book database and use it to populate content through your website. You’ll be able to enter or edit your book content in one place while having the content appear in multiple places. The author plugin helps you work smarter, no need to edit your website in multiple locations when you add a new book!

Automation

BUY NOW vs. PRE-ORDER NOW

Pre-Orders can be an important time for authors to make money off their latest book release.

Many of the book templates, blocks, and features throughout the plugin showcase a BUY NOW message. This is great, except for when the book is only available for Pre-Order. We have you covered! We’ve programmed these areas to automatically display a different message depending on the publication date.

You will see this on the Book Cards, in the Purchase Options headings, in the Book Slideshow Banner, and more.

Banners

LaLa Theme 4 has an awesome custom banner built-in. Learn more about it on the Theme 4 Documentation website. When you add the Author plugin to the website it adds another option for a Book Slideshow (see example above). You simply select which books you want to include in the slideshow and it pulls in the book data.

The Book Slideshow, of course, offers you a few custom options. The first option of note is a default background banner. This is for those of you that opt not to use a banner image on your book detail pages.

There is also an option to overwrite the default book data by adding in an alternate book cover, an alternate background banner image, or an alternate description. All great options for getting creative with your promotions.

We are using the Book Slideshow on this page (see above) so you can see it in action. This feature is typically used on the home page or a landing page.

SEO

Yoast

We recommend using the Yoast Plugin to manage your metadata.

Schema Markup

Schema markup ( schema.org) is a form of structured data. In the code, we have used Schema Markup to build out the author and book templates. This helps us deliver contextual information to search engines so they can better understand your website’s content. There are many Schema Markup classes specifically related to authors and books. We’ve used this within our templates to give you website content to super charge your SEO.
